New Smart Multifunctional Bird Repeller: Say Goodbye to the Hazards of Bird Nests—Starting with "Sound"

Spring and summer are peak seasons for bird activity, and utility poles and substations along power lines often become their preferred nesting and roosting sites. However, as endearing as birds may be, the droppings they leave on power equipment, the twigs they use to build nests, and even the birds themselves can pose hidden risks that may trigger accidents such as power grid short circuits and circuit breakers tripping. How to keep birds away from power facilities without harming them has become a critical challenge in power operation and maintenance management.

Currently, various types of smart bird deterrent devices are gradually being deployed in power grid systems to provide technical support for transmission safety. Take, for example, the new smart multifunctional bird deterrent ZQN-DL-ZN2 launched by Zhenqu Bird Deterrent. This device integrates ultrasonic and voice-based bird deterrence, helping to establish an invisible protective barrier around power facilities through a “non-intrusive deterrence” approach.

The device emits ultrasonic waves at a specific frequency that is inaudible to the human ear but causes physiological discomfort in birds, thereby creating a “negative association” with the area around the transmission towers. Over time, the birds will naturally avoid the area. This process is gentle, continuous, and does not disrupt the environment. In contrast, vocal bird deterrence is more “intimidating”—the device continuously plays recordings of birds’ natural predators or other danger signals, simulating a threatening acoustic environment that psychologically alerts the birds and discourages them from approaching.

In addition to its bird-deterrent function, this device also provides safety alerts. Equipped with a radio-frequency radar sensing system, it automatically triggers a “High Voltage Danger” voice alert and on-screen warning when pedestrians enter a 5-meter radius of the device, offering an extra layer of safety for passersby. This feature is particularly practical in settings with high foot traffic, such as substations and densely populated urban areas.

In terms of power supply, the equipment uses a dual-mode power supply system that combines solar power and grid power, ensuring round-the-clock operation even during prolonged periods of rain or overcast weather. Additionally, the installation method is highly flexible: the equipment can be mounted on channel steel or suspended based on on-site conditions, making it suitable for a wide range of scenarios, including substations and transmission towers.
